JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Integrity Unit of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested Officer Megan Ray on Friday evening on charges of felony criminal mischief.
Another officer, Teresa Ray, suspected Megan Ray of causing damage to her personal vehicle due to a dispute. Megan Ray was hired by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in 2003 and has been working in the Teleserve Unit, having been removed from her regular police assignment when a complaint was lodged against her by Teresa Ray.
This is an ongoing investigation by JSO.
Channel 4 has learned from our sources that Megan Ray's ex-husband is now married to Teresa Ray. Megan Ray and her ex-husband went through a three-year long divorce, according to court records.
All of the following is according to the police report:
Teresa Ray parked her vehicle Monday in the parking lot underneath the Police Memorial Building; Megan Ray's vehicle was parking there as well.
At about noon, Megan Ray arrived to her vehicle and walked over to Teresa Ray's personal vehicle and looked inside. Megan Ray then forcibly pulled on the front and rear driver's side door handles in an attempt to open them. The doors were locked.
Megan Ray then punctured the front passenger side tire several times. She then walked to the rear of the Teresa Ray's vehicle and attempted to remove her Fraternal Order of Police metal emblem from her license plate.
Megan then walked away from the vehicle and back toward the Police Memorial Building.
On Thursday, Teresa Ray reported that her left rear, driver's side tire was flattened. During that time, Officer Hartt, witnessed a silver Nissan leaving the scene. The driver of the Nissan had long blonde hair, Hartt said.
Officer Hartt stated that when she excited her vehicle, she heard the air escaping from the left rear tire of Teresa Ray's vehicle.
Officer Hartt said she believed that the person driving the silver Nissan was Megan Ray but could not say for sure.
On Friday, Megan Ray was arrested. It was noticed at the time of the arrest that she had her index finger and thumb on her right hand wrapped in white bandages.
After her Miranda Rights were read, Megan admitted to flattening Teresa Ray's tires. Megan Ray admitted that the knife recovered from her purse was used to flatten the tires. She also said she cut her hand when she flattened the tire.
