Title: Best Car Wash near urban core?
Post by: ben says on December 09, 2010, 08:23:19 AM
I need a good car wash that won't break the bank...somewhere that will clean the inside and out well...I used to go to the carwash on University Blvd...but it seems they went down in quality.
Thoughts?

I never go wrong with Charles and George's, either on Cassat or at Roosevelt Square.

Meh. Charles and George are the most basic of car washes and they charge the better part of $30 and the car still always has water spots and wet places around the mirrors and seals that they didn't take the time to wipe dry. So as soon as you start rolling, you have streaks all over. I'd go somewhere else if there were anywhere else.

Charles and George's isn't good.  You'd be better off going to Jaguar Car Wash on Phillips.  $5 for exterior wash and hand dried, then you can pay a little extra for interior cleaning.

If you're itching to spend more, go to Bubble's in Mandarin.  It's probably the best place in town.  A good wash there will cost about $16 and you'll be extremely pleased.

St. Nicholas Car Wash on Beach Blvd just past the Atlantic/Beach split has always done a great job for me.  The also have the all over Rain-X coating that makes your car stay much cleaner for a longer time.

I spent $30 at C&G for the exact same wash I got at Car Spa the other day for $16.

I go to Charles & Georges and only pay $13. I just ask for basic wash. They still vacuum the inside, wash and dry. I just do the wheels and tires myself when I get home.

For $13 plus tax you shouldn't have to do your own wheels and tires when you get home...

All the other car washes in town do a lot more than C&G's $30 "works" for $15-$17. The only reason they get away with it is that they're located in an area where you have to drive a 25 mile roundtrip to get to another carwash.

The average person wouldnt have to. Im just picky about my wheels and tires and would rather redo them myself than pay someone else.

It bugs me too, don't worry. But average or not, for that much money they should at least clean the wheels properly. That involves a rag, not just whatever water happens to spray on them in the tunnel.

Jaguar Car Wash on Phillips is definitely best bang for your buck. Unfortunately they used to have an extra stage in there wash but they removed it. However still a deal for the hand dry.

Wow, thanks for all the new suggestions.  Guess I didn't know how bad I had it at Charles and George's.

I live a few blocks away from C&G.  But if I get a car wash, I do it at lunch time and head over to Regency's Car Spa.  Heck, I can even watch ESPN while the car get's washed for half the price of C&G.

I had my rear bumper cover ripped clean off my black beauty.
I was laughing and nearly doubled over when I knew Charles would poo his pants when I told him that the car had no prior accident damage and subsequently presented him with a carfax.
He didn't even want to see the paper - just paid to have a new one ordered, painted, and installed.
almost $1k

another incident occured when one of his attendants (I refrain from using the term detailer) broke an air vent in my B pillar - also replaced no problem.

quite a number of years ago a friend of mine had the roof rail bent by the dryer which loosened a seal in the mount. pricey YAKIMA on an older Volvo.

I for one WILL retouch my rims and pat the dampness from my mirrors and trunk/taillight panel gaps after I park.

the basic wash gives you clean windows and a dash wipe too.  you can always tip for airfreshener.
tire shine will cost you. skip it and keep a can of no-touch spray foam in the trunk.

then go pick up your date.
