An arrest has been made in the attack on a homeless man who was stabbed in his hands, hip, chest, stomach and neck early Saturday morning near the Mandarin library.

Eric Francis Sandefur, 17, of the 3300 block of Bowers Lane has been charged with attempted murder, according to Jacksonville police. He was arrested Tuesday after police were sent to his home, where Sandefur said he wanted to turn himself in, according to the arrest and booking report.

Police said a knife and clothing were recovered from the residence.

The victim told Jacksonville police he had been sleeping behind the Lewis Building at San Jose Boulevard and Kori Road when he woke up and saw a man with long hair and glasses standing over him.

The assailant stabbed 28-year-old Jason J. Jerome, who did not know his attacker, police said. He appeared to have on a jacket and tie.

The victim told police he doesn't know why he had been stabbed.

Personally, I've always thought middle class entitled youth are far more threatening than a homeless person- which is why I think it's funny when friends from the suburbs act freaked out when they have to walk pass a homeless person snoozing in Riverside.

Looks like the beginnings of a serial killer... glad they caught him.
