QuoteGroup To Release Man's 'Radical' Speech

Months After Muslim's Approval To Human Rights Commission, Controversy Continues

POSTED: Tuesday, November 30, 2010

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville chapter of Act for America said it videotaped a recent speech by Parvez Ahmed that proves he has radical views.

Now a member of that group is trying to convince City Council members to remove the University of North Florida professor from the Human Rights Commission, which he joined just seven months ago under much controversy.

The renewed effort to remove Ahmed from the commission may have had its origin Oct. 9 when he spoke at the Fleming Island Public Library at the invitation of the Clay County chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. There, Ahmed spoke about Islam in America.

He said that as he was speaking, another group was there -- the Jacksonville chapter of Act for America. This wasn't the first time they've clashed.

The groups website says the group seeks to "inform Americans about the threats of radical Islam."

Members of Act for America said they weren't there just to confront Ahmed about his views, but also to videotape his speech.

The group will soon release that video because they believe what he had to say.

In April, the Jacksonville City Council approved Ahmed's contentious nomination to the Human Rights Commission by a 13-6 vote, but members of Act continue to say he's not suitable to hold that position.

Leading a charge against Ahmed, Randy McDaniels, president of Act for America, voiced concerns over Ahmed's former job with the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which has been linked to terrorism.

Now McDaniels' group is getting ready to lobby the Council and the community to have Ahmed removed.

From the Times-Union today;

QuoteAnti-radical-Muslim group renews call to oust Parvez Ahmed

Submitted by Tia Mitchell on November 30, 2010 - 11:01am

Death, Taxes & Politics

Randy McDaniels (left) once again wants Parvez Ahmed to be removed from Jacksonville's Human Rights Commission. The Jacksonville Chapter of ACT! for America is renewing calls to oust University of North Florida professor Parvez Ahmed from the Jacksonville Human Rights Commission and says it has video evidence of Ahmed sharing his radical views.

Randy McDaniels began e-mailing supporters Saturday and urging them to contact Jacksonville City Council members and call for Ahmed's ouster. Ahmed joined the Human Rights Commission last year after a contentious confirmation process where he was called to defend ties to CAIR and even asked to pray at a council meeting.

McDaniels says Ahmed's ties to the Council on Islamic-American Relations, a national Muslim organization that he used to lead, remain problematic. He points to recently unsealed documents from a federal trial that hold up the U.S. Department of Justice's decision to end its relationship with CAIR.

McDaniels also has begun circulating an e-mail saying that his group took video of Ahmed giving a talk at Fleming Island Library that supposedly highlights his extremist views. So far I haven't been able to reach McDaniels.

Council President Jack Webb said he wants to look into McDaniels' newest complaints before deciding whether he wants to call for Ahmed's ouster. Webb was one of six council members who voted against confirming Ahmed to the Human Rights Commission last year.

Webb said the recently unsealed court documents deserve his attention: "I want to read it, I want to dissect it, I want to analyze it."

He said the fact that it is a federal judge's review of CAIR, and not one by an organization with any agenda, that gives the matter additional weight. Webb said he will be looking to see if any of the information in the judge's analysis is new or wasn't disclosed at the time of Ahmed's confirmation.

Ahmed says the attacks from McDaniels are more of the same. He said the talk at Fleming Island Library was at the request of the Clay Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State and on the subject "Is Islam Compatible with American Values?"

He said the ACT! for America members openly challenged him during his speech and were "very disruptive at the meeting and many people felt that they were threatening" to the point that members of Americans United escorted Ahmed to his car afterward.

Here is an excerpt from an e-mail chapter president Harry Parrott sent to Clay Today newspaper after that event: "The fact that part of the session got pretty heated was no surprise, because Dr Ahmed is followed around by anti-Muslim bigots whose plan is to disrupt meetings, make loud accusatory speeches, and bring charges against Dr. Ahmed personally. This is an ugly pattern, but critics are free to come. Most obnoxious are members of the ACT group, whose national founder sees Arabs as subhuman barbarians who pose a mortal danger to the entire world. ... It is precisely the presence of fear and hysteria about Islam that makes education and discussion a matter of urgency. We hope our meeting was a first step here in Clay County."

Ahmed also points out that other U.S. government leaders have been critical of the Justice Department's decision to cut ties with CAIR, but either way these facts were already debated during his confirmation process.

QuoteThe Jacksonville chapter of Act for America said it videotaped a recent speech by Parvez Ahmed that proves he has radical views.

I wonder if they'll edit it like Andrew Breitbart did the speech of Shirley Sherrod so that it seems to make Mr. Ahmed into a radical.

It would be nice if the press would do a little investigation on who these accusers are instead of focusing all the stories on Mr. Ahmed.

Sounds good, we should interview Ahmed and ask what was actually said during his allegedly "radical" speech. And since these right-wingers love their selective editing, I'd also be interested to know if there is any other video of the same event available from other sources.

QuoteActivist who led fight against Muslim professor on Jax Commission owes state $500K

"Consumer harm" was called "quite significant" by the state, which revoked Act! Jacksonville leader Randy McDaniels' contractors license.

Randy McDaniels loves the spotlight.

In January, the former contractor helped found Act! Jacksonville, a local chapter of a national anti-Islamist group that quickly made the fight against Parvez Ahmed its top priority. The University of North Florida professor and Fulbright scholar’s nomination to the Jacksonville Human Rights Commission led to hundreds of e-mails to City Council members, news conferences by McDaniels on the steps of City Hall and DVDs accusing Ahmed, a Muslim, of having extremist ties.

McDaniels has aggressively pointed a spotlight on Ahmed’s background, but not so to his own history. His record with state licensing boards show that he owes more than $500,000 in fines to the state for contracting jobs he botched or, in some cases, took money for but never performed.

Did you notice in the TU article that the head of the "Florida Security Council" made a barely veiled threat against the TU reporter?  "You are now on the radar of some very serious counter-terrorism people".

So to write an article about Randy McDaniels makes you an ally of Hamas?

These are some seriously crazy people.  Are Muslims the new Jews for the neo-Nazi types?

Here is a copy of the email he sent to the TU. Maybe he should spend a little more time worrying about his own wreck of a personal life.

Quote11 December 2010
Matt Dixon,

In regard to inquiry, please review the following and note, this letter must be reported in its
entirety and you are not granted permission to edit this letter:

I ran a successful business for 10 years before falling on hard times in the worst economic
downturn since the depression, one in which saw the collapse of the Lehman brothers and
government bailouts of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

When it became apparent the business was in trouble, we had around 40 projects on the books
and completed all but 5 or 6, and most of those were substantially completed.  Our business
practices and financial records were looked into by authorities and the state attorney in West
Palm Beach, not only did the jury quickly find no wrong doing, but the state dropped the
additional case.

Had I choose to file bankruptcy or litigate with the few customers who choose not to work with
us (most trusted us and choose to work with us) while we were experiencing these economic
difficulties, more customers would not have had their jobs completed.

As a licensed contractor, I paid into the Construction Industry Recovery Fund, which protects
customers under certain circumstances in cases like these.

Per statute 489.141 had we litigated or filed for bankruptcy to protect my personal
interest, there was a good chance these customers would not have received
compensation for losses from this fund.  I choose to do what was right and use all
available resources to complete as many projects as possible while also not
jeopardizing the ability of my customers to collect these funds.

As a result our customers were ultimately protected to my knowledge and only the state’s
insurance fund suffered losses, and ultimately I suffered the loss of ALL of my finances, my
family, and ultimately our home.  However, I can hold my head high knowing I did everything in
my power to protect our customers.

While I am not proud of it, the fact is my DUI is a matter of public record.  In regard to your
allegations of Domestic Violence, these false allegations were made a week before a
divorce/custody hearing and all charges were dropped.  I assume this allegation stems from the
restraining order filed regarding these false allegations which is still in the process of being
removed.
Mr. Dixon, you have shown that you have the ability to do investigative journalism in research of
my personal background.  As a former Marine I swore an oath and to protect defend my nation
and constitution.  As a civic leader I will not shirk this responsibility as many in leadership often
do.  I picked up this torch and accepted responsibility to lead this ACT Chapter fully expecting to
answer these questions publicly at some point.

You sir, also have a responsibility to the community.  You have the responsibility to give fair,
equal, and unbiased reporting in your capacity as a journalist.  I expect, as does our community,
that you will look just as deeply into the past of Mr. Parvez Ahmed and his role as a leader of the Propaganda Arm of HAMAS in America.  That you look into his past, current, and possible future
legal problems regarding the current Federal Grand Jury Investigation, as well as his involvement
with the current Fraud and Breach of Fiduciary Responsibility cases which occurred under his
leadership.

I pray that you report these facts and allegations in the same tone and manner that you have
regarding my past.  It would seem most appropriate in light of the fact Parvez Ahmed is the one
who has sought and obtained a position of PUBLIC TRUST.

I continue to have the support of Church Leaders, Community Leaders, and National Security
Leaders in the local and on the national level, many of whom are writing letters of support should
a press statement be necessary.

Respectfully,
Randall D. McDaniels
Jacksonville Chapter Leader
ACT for America

What complete douchetools. So now that the economy's slow and they've got nothing better to do, we have a bunch of crooked broke contractors running around pretending they're the F.B.I.? Seriously, only in Jacksonville...

Why don't you concentrate on paying off the $400k worth of judgements for money you stole for projects you never completed, then concentrate on paying the $500k worth of fines and penalties you owe the State of Florida. Then, after all that's done, you can ethically worry about throwing stones at other people. The Times-Union article makes it pretty clear this douche has caused the public a lot more harm than anything even he himself claims Parvez Ahmed could do.

Oh and while you're at it, feel free to add me to your "list"...LMFAO!

In fact, you've just inspired me to make my own list;

The Incurable Thundertards of Jacksonville

1.   Randall McDaniels
2.   Louise DeSpain
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.

A big "Job well done" to the Matt Dixon and Kate Howard of the T-U.

Focusing attention solely on Mr. Ahmed hid the truth about his wacko accusers. Now we know what kind of people they really are and shame shame to our city council leaders who were so quick to jump in without doing a bit more fact checking.

I really cant stand it when people take such a convoluted issue and attempt to make it clear cut and black and white.  I am a little shocked by the way they glossed over the guy getting hanged for writing a book without mentioning how un-American that was.  Instead they used it to bolster their claim that he is a bad man.  These guys will say pretty much anything to support their xenophobia and or racism.
