Thanks to Charles Hunter and Jax Out Loud for the heads up!Ocklawaha
Wow, that was quick!
just so you know, this study does not include the downtown BRT....that is a separate study
that said, I'm sure comments about the downtown part can still be made
are these meetings supposed to cover the same topic at each meeting? i'm guessing it is that way, but i thought i'd ask.
No. Each meeting covers a specific corridor. The public meetings for the downtown segment have already happened. Tonight's meeting will cover the route from downtown to Regency Mall.
A Plan? QuoteTonights meeting covers the downtown - Regency Route...
This is the ONLY route that makes any sense in the JTA plan, perhaps we should let them know that...Ocklawaha
The North side Corridor up the middle of I-95 doesn't make any sense at all.
Use the nealy 90 Million bucks estimated for the northside BRT and impliment a combination S-Line rail with a Main St herritage trolley. They would have transfer stations at 12th and 45th, and would connect Panama Par /NorthShore by rail to Gateway mall, Downtown, Springfield, Durkeeville, Edward Waters College, and the Farmers Market

Only if BRT lanes use the service lanes down the Arlington Expressway. If the busway is elevated in the middle of the expressway (like reversable HOV lanes), then there's a lot of pork that can be trimmed off it as well.
Better to have said, "Support the route, hate the plan..."

what goes on before 6? is it just a time for people to come in and review material before it starts? 4:30 seems a little early to me.
Ben, do you really think they want our input? They want us to fall into line, tell them what geniuses they are, and then allow them to start giving their contractor buddies three quarters of a billion dollars (even spread over 20 years is a TON of money).
Jacksonville is at a cross road. If we go BRT, its the same ole, same ole. If we go rail, we have finally turned that corner into becoming a nation and international city... Stay tuned.

Normally a dog and pony show. You can look at all the pretty pictures and charts on the wall and consultants are there to tell you why this is the greatest thing since the invention of sliced bread. A presentation is held at 6pm to further prove to you that this is the greatest thing since sliced bread and why its a superior choice to any other form of transit out there, despite most of our peer cities selecting forms of rail as trunk lines, instead of BRT. This is followed by a Q & A session and then you leave feeling confused, hopeless, dirty and abused.

That was pretty funny! LOL!
There is a entertainment value in watching the fear turn to terror as the conversation goes from bus to LRT...
They KNOW all about LRT, but sure don't want to talk about it! RAIL IS A 4 LETTER WORD!Ocklawaha
