Five Points is now home to New Broadway Square, a new specialty drink/dessert shop featuring boba, frozen yogurt, espresso and more.
The shop opened Thursday at 1049 Park St., in the former Hypnotique spot, two doors up from neighborhood mainstay Pizza Italian.

stopped by this place last night, excellent desserts, sampled 4 different petit fours with flavours such as earl grey, rosewater, jasmine, etc. and had some excellent espresso. definitely a great addition to the neighborhood, not like any other coffee shop around here at least decor wise.
Has Fuel been replaced?
Five points is our best urban area and where our connectivity projects should blossom from.

Has Fuel been replaced?
Fuel has been gone for years and nothing has been back in its place. All attempts to put something there have run up against the owners ridiculous rents and conditions. Stupid!
The new coffee shop is delightful and the two young Asian women who own the place are fun and friendly. Get your latte to stay, and you'll be served in a beautiful porcelain cup and saucer, with delicate latte art painted into the crema microfoam on top, in the style of David Schomer. Their dessert selections include some gluten free items which was a nice surprise, and the Wi-Fi was free and fast.
I won't be drawn into a critical discussion of WHY such an ideal spot as the former Fuel location remains vacant. I will say that a close personal friend has talked directly with the building owner, who lives in Richmond, VA and was rather completely unaware that her property was filthy, urine soaked, and appeared to be more-or-less abandoned. Upon learning this news, she promised to fly to Jax right away and do a little investigation. Perhaps her property management company isn't working as hard as they should?

Wonderful understatement!
The owner needs to talk to David Joudi at Riverside Wine and Liquors next door to the old Fuel location.
This place looks great, and the people who own the place are delightful. The few desserts I tried were fantastic and seemed homemade. Really a nice little addition to 5 Points. That being said, I can't help but wondering...how they hell are they going to stay in business?? Looks like they serve maybe a dozen items total. They're going to have to sell a lot of teas, coffees, and fro-yo to stay in business. Looks like a big store for a small amount of product!
@Ben - I silently wondered the same thing myself, and I do not want to speak out of turn, but have heard that they do plan on expanding their offerings gradually.
They better expand their product selection quickly! We all know how tempermental and finicky Jacksonville shoppers are...This place could be out of business by the time Christmas rolls around!
