The 2006 uniform crime reports that are provided by law enforcement agencies to the FBI are out, and Jacksonville again is tops statewide for number of crimes in all categories.
The high totals are somewhat misleading though because Jacksonville's 795,822 population includes the entire county and is a little more than double the next biggest listed city, Miami.
Violent crimes, murder and rape each increased, however, from 2005 in Jacksonville. The reported aggravated assaults decreased 617 though. Violent crimes were up 63, murders 19 and rapes 29.
Nationwide figures indicate that, as a whole according to the report, violent crimes increased 1.3 percent.
