Hello everyone!
Jersey born and Jax raised. Been in Tallahassee since 2002 and recently moved back earlier this summer. It's been a neat experience growing up in suburban southside (neighborhoods west of Tinseltown/north of Southpoint) with a very narrow awareness/appreciation of what this City has to offer. Fast forward to now, I have come back with a spanking new degree in Planning and built up a thirst for exploring areas with a sense of place.
That being said, it's been nice getting re-acquainted with the River City with this new perspective. I have been lurking around this site long enough; enjoying the great write-ups, history, and stimulating discussion. Looking forward to taking a bigger part in it all!
Welcome back! Start at ground zero...Downtown... the spiral out into Springfield, San Marco, Five points
Welcome (back) Luveenyah! Lots of great info on just about everything jax here so frequent the site.
Thanks!
I've started some part time work with JEDC in downtown development and it has been nice to see how the site stays pretty current on the area's projects/happenings. I'd move to the core or the surrounding neighborhoods in a heart beat if I could.
Welcome! I left Tally in 02(right when you were moving in) and made the choice to move back home to Jacksonville. It has been the best decision I have made in my life.
Good luck in your work with the JEDC! We need more bright young minds :)
Welcome Luv. Be sure to take a River Keeper boat tour, and "Meander" from 5-Points Riverside to Avondale...then to Ortega across the newly fixed drawbridge. there is SO much restored it will impress you.
Springfield will blow you away and warrants a whole other tour. not what you might remember....
Springfield proudly came back to be a STRONG neighborhood.

I sure don't mind going out of my way to get lost while driving around in those areas. Definitely have to do more wandering on foot, and not just in the commercial areas. And the boat tour sounds very interesting.
Thank you all for the warm welcomes.
